June Capps Norris was born on August 30, 1928 in Norfolk, Virginia to parents William “Billy” Virginius Capps and Nancy Clarice “Ric” Slusher. She was educated in the Norfolk City Schools and graduated from Granby High School and continued her education at William & Mary. For more than 70 years, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a full-time mission for 2.5 years at the Salt Lake City Family History Center.
She married Robert McKim Norris of Greenville, South Carolina on June 25, 1947 in Norfolk. They were blessed with five children.
June was a professional genealogist and expert witness. She loved building her own family tree and helping others start theirs. She enjoyed planting and watching things grow. She loved to read, watch classic movies, CSPAN and follow current events. She was an engaging story-teller with an amazing memory.
Her husband, daughter Anne Henley Norris, granddaughter Virginia “Ginny” Woods and great grandson Lewis Clay Robertson III predeceased her. She is survived by 4 children, 23 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren,10 great great grandchildren, sister, Anne Capps Robertson of Chesapeake, VA, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2780 Altadena Road, Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 12 noon to 2 pm. The church service will follow the visitation in the chapel at 2 pm.
Burial will follow at 2 pm on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia.
