Joseph Anthony Zito, 96 of Hoover, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015. Mr. Zito was a United States Army veteran, and served in WWII. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking. He made wonderful bread, pizza and pound cakes, which he loved to share with friends and family.
Mr. Zito is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Catherine Russo Zito; son, Frank Joseph Zito; parents, Frank and Sarah Zito; brother, Thomas Zito; and sisters, Frances Spota and Lena Mae Carruba. He is survived by his son, Benny Zito (Patricia); daughters, Rose Marie Latino (Benny) and Angel Joseph (Mark); daughter-in-law, Michele Zito; brother, Anthony C. Zito; sister, Mary Lovoy; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
The funeral mass for Mr. Zito will be at 10am on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. The visitation will be from 5:30pm until 8:30pm on Tuesday evening, with the rosary beginning at 5:30pm.
