Tom received his formal education at West Jefferson High School in Quinton, Alabama. He was married to Linda Jones on August 31, 1990. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He served as a music director.
Tom worked for Jim Walter Resources for 30 years and Saiia Construction for 11 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed woodworking, R.C. Airplanes, playing the piano, and listening to southern gospel music.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Jonathon Piper; and his beloved dog, Princess.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda Piper; children, Chris Piper (Tammy) and Mindy Piper; grandchildren, Kristen Ely (Mykel), Corey Piper, and Macey Smith (Patrick); 5 great-grandchildren; brothers, Mark Piper and Matt Piper (Tasha); nephews, Chad Roth (Tambry), Mark Piper Jr. (Jana), Hayden Piper (Abby), Josh Piper (Erin), Matthew Piper; sister-in-law, Brenda Roth.
A graveside will be held at Southern Heritage Cemetery on Sunday, March 3, at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception at Southern Heritage Funeral Home.
