John Lonnie Galbreath, Jr, age 59, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Friday morning, November 25, 2016. He was born on October 19, 1957 in Mountain Brook, Alabama to John Lonnie Galbreath, Sr. and Catherine Louise Armstrong Galbreath.
John graduated from the University of Montevallo where he was an avid member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After college, he worked for his family business, ABSCO Fireplace & Patio. During this time, he was president of the Hearth, Patio and Barbecue Association and then retired in 2014. John served on the Board of Directors for the Cahaba River Society.
John was a man of many sports. From odysseys to motorcycles, jet skis to rock crawlers, to RVing, he made life-long friends wherever he went.
John is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nan Lee Ellis Galbreath; daughter, Joy (Jeremy) Odom; grandson, Jaedon Odom; parents, John L. Galbreath, Sr. and Catherine Galbreath; sister, Cathy (Scott) Buzbee; and Archon.
John was preceded in death by his two grandchildren, Jessica and Christopher Odom, and Zax.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. the same day at Ridout's Southern Heritage Chapel, Pelham with Dr. Bryant Strain officiating. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
