Jack B. Carter II, 62, of Vestavia Hills, AL, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014. He was born in Birmingham, AL on December 27, 1951. Jack graduated from Ensley High School and received the Bachelor of Science Degree from Auburn University. He was married to the former Sharon Cottingham on August 12, 1979. Jack worked in industrial sales for Powermotion, Inc. as President. An Eagle Scout, he was assistant scoutmaster for Troop 52. He was a Province Commander and Knight Commander for Kappa Alpha Order at Auburn University, where he helped lead fundraisers for the fraternity's new house. He was also a Mason with the Shades Valley Lodge. In addition to his wife, Sharon, survivors include Jack's son, Jack Ballard Carter III and his wife Meredith, and one sister, Nancy Carter Scott and her husband Dick. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, AL. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, AL. Burial, Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. Memorial gifts may be made to Kappa Alpha Order at Auburn University or Boy Scouts of America Troop 52.
