Leigh, George Clark Jr., 84, died Sunday, May 13th, 2012 with his family by his side in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born November 1, 1927 to parents George Clark Leigh, Sr. and Laura Mills Leigh. He grew up in Birmingham and graduated from West End High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his service to his country he worked for Alagasco for 45 years. He was also known for his service of 30 years to the Homewood Joy League Baseball Association in Homewood. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mrs. Peggy Ballard Leigh, brothers Henry (Kathy) Leigh, John Robert (Delores) Leigh, sister Brenda (Mahlon) Felkins, children, Mike (Mary) Leigh, Dianne (Mike) Cullinan, Scott (Angela) Leigh, Sr., Susan (Jim) Thorington, grandchildren, Kelley Gomez, Christy Leigh, Shannon Majors, Scott Leigh Jr., Hunter Thorington, Amy Thorington, Julie Thorington and his four great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 12:30-2 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:45pm at the Alabama National Cemetery.
