NCC Franklin Dale Kent

Franklin Dale Kent, who was known as Dale to family, was born December 19, 1949 to Louis Hardie Kent and Frances Mildred Kent in Leland, MS. He grew up the youngest of five siblings. He loved to play baseball growing up. He graduated from Leland High School. He met his wife Brenda Greer Kent in the summer of 1968. They married March 6, 1970. He joined the US Navy, and spent 26 years in service as a Naval Career Counselor. He traveled the world, and he loved what he did.

He is survived by his wife Brenda Kent, daughter Ryan K McCarthy (Bill) of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by his grandchildren Leslie (Anni) McCarthy, Graci Dale McCarthy, Alex Kent, and Maggie Kent; Sister Becky Breckenridge of Amarillo, TX; Brother in-laws Louis Greer (Muriel)of Ridgeland, MS. and Danny Greer (Penny) of Gallatin, TN; Nieces and nephews Tommy Greer, Tyson Greer, Renee Sanders, Laura Atkins, Kent Breckenridge and Benny Breckenridge; and countless friends and family.

Frank was preceded in death by his son William Dale Kent, parents Louis Hardie and Mildred Kent, in-laws Sarge and Jean Greer, and two brothers Hardie and Dan Kent.

Frank retired from the Navy after 26 years of service. He loved his family and in 2008 decided to convert to Catholicism. His pride and joy were his wife Brenda, children William and Ryan, and his grandchildren. In 2022, he and Brenda moved to Birmingham, AL to be closer to their daughter Ryan and her family.

After a long battle with heart disease and other illnesses, he departed his earthly body for his eternal home with the Lord on October 17, 2023.

Funeral Mass with Military Honors will be held at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church Tuesday October 24, 2023 at 3:00PM. Family will accept visitors from 1-3 PM in the church. Interment at Our Lady of the Valley immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Our Lady of the Valley School.
