Christine "Chris" Mitchell Russell

Christine Ann “Chris” (Mitchell) Russell, 80, of Jemison, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday February 17, 2024, at her home after a lingering illness. Christine was born on February 13, 1944, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Christine was a member of the Victory Missionary Baptist Church in Jemison, AL. where she attended services regularly until her health declined. She enjoyed her annual trips to Gatlinburg, TN. with the church.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents James Mitchell and Christine Willingham Mitchell Boley of Birmingham, AL.; her favorite Aunt Virginia Willingham Loomis (Uncle Raymond) whom she loved and cherished dearly, of Birmingham, AL.; and Grandson Joshua Taylor Russell of Columbiana, AL.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, James S. “Jimmy” Russell of Jemison, AL.

Sons James “Jim” Mitchell Russell (Rebecca) of Dothan, AL.; Douglas “Alex” Russell (Nikki) of Jemison, AL.

Grandchildren Nathan Russell (Michelle) of New Zealand.; Candice Russell Dennis (Kyle) of Chelsea, AL.; Nicholas Vann of Auburn, AL.; Mary Russell of Cape Girardeau, MO.; Ella Russell of St. Paul, MN.; Great Granddaughter Nellie Blake Dennis of Chelsea, AL.

Lifelong friends Vicki Juliano and Connie Curry McFall, along with dear friends Jo Anne Finch, Louise and Dan Jean, a host of friend’s, in-law’s neighbors also survive.

“Chris”, “Mom” and “Nana” we will miss you forever!

Visitation will be 10am-12pm., Wednesday February 21, 2024, at

Southern Heritage Funeral Home 475 Cahaba Valley Road Pelham, AL 35124

Burial service will follow immediately after visitation at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
