Early Sunday morning, June 19, 2022, Carol Sue Bean Ray passed away peacefully in her sleep. She left this world and went to heaven for a glorious reunion with friends and family who have gone before her.
Carol was born on October 25, 1930 in a small home located in a tiny community between Pratt City, Alabama and Sandusky, Alabama. Locals commonly referred to their town as “Who'd A Thought It?”. She was educated in the local public school system and graduated from Minor High School as a member of the National Honor Society. Her affinity for numbers enabled her to obtain employment in several jobs in bookkeeping and accounting.
Carol met the love of her life, Robert W. "Bob" Ray, and married him on January 27, 1950. They had four children (all girls). Sadly, their time together was cut short when Bob passed away in 1977.
Carol remained a widow until her death. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and traveling to new places. She got great joy when she was able to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Ruth Bean; her husband, Bob Ray; her brother, Kenneth Bean; and her granddaughter, Katelyn Rhea Kemp. She is survived by her sisters, Sandra Frame and Deborah Miller (Gerry); her brother, Phillip Bean; and her daughters, Bobbie Bush, Jackie Spann (John), Joy Kemp (Steve) and Terri Knight (Shey). She also leaves behind five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Carol’s life will be celebrated at the gravesite committal service at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Alabama National Cemetery, Montevallo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Carol Ray's memory to St. Jude’s Hospital, Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, or a charity close to your heart.
