Pelham, Alabama native and life-long resident Bobby Frank "Buddy" Martin, age 79, passed away Thursday night, June 27, 2013. He was born September 19, 1933 to Lester Martin and Willodean Collum Martin.
The U.S. Army Veteran was employed 25 years at Harbert Construction. "B," as his co-workers called him, was promoted to Superintendent in the mid-1960s and served in that position until his 1988 retirement at age 55.
Buddy was a long-time member and Councilman at Pelham Church of God.
In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by one son, David Martin, and one sister, Imogene Ray. Survivors include Buddy's loving wife and best friend of almost 56 years, the former Edna Lorene Morrison; two daughters, Annette M. Durrett (Mickey) and Karen McKinstry (Joey); one son, Donald Martin (Josephine); six grandchildren, Josh Durrett (Brittany), Ashley Hyde, Allison Hyde, Zac Martin, Lizzie Martin, and Jacob McKinstry; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Durrett and Garrett Durrett; one brother, Billy Martin (Debbie); and brother-in-law, O.C. Ray.
Visitation will be 12 noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Pelham Church of God. Burial will follow in Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham.
