Barbara Schilleci Boyd

She was born in Birmingham on January 16, 1936 and graduated from Ensley High School. Barbara lived near Rickwood Field during her school years where she and her parents hosted backyard barbeques for the baseball players and their spouses. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and a devoted wife who had a passion for art, music, reading, gardening and travel. Barbara worked as an office manager at Barron Industries and later at Lehigh Portland Cement Company in Leeds, AL. She was active in the local churches and garden clubs in Bluff Park, Leeds and Eagle Point. During her retirement, Barbara was fortunate to be able to travel to many places on her bucket list including taking an African safari where she was able to sleep in a tree house

She is preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Cardin Schilleci, her father, Mike Schilleci, and her husband of 43 years, Walter Dennis Boyd.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children and their spouses, Teri and Elis Griswold of Douglasville, GA; and Steve and Rhonda Boyd of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Sam Griswold and his wife Jessie; Amy Hickman and her husband Michael; Kevin Boyd; and Connor Boyd; along with two great-grandchildren, Maddux Hickman and Aaron Hickman.

A celebration of life will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2020 at 11:00 am with visitation beginning one hour prior. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
