Vernita June Schrock

Born June 7, 1928 in Peoria to Laverne and Juanita (Hancock) Payne, she married Marion Keith Schrock on May 16, 1944 in Pekin. He recently passed away on May 10, 2024 in Kannapolis.

Surviving are one daughter, Sherry (Vern) Biggers of Kannapolis, North Carolina; one son, Dennis (Pam) Schrock of East Peoria; seven grandchildren, Brian (Melanie) Schrock of Melbourne Beach, Florida, Jennifer (Darren) Smith of Washington, Jill (Ricky) Vredenburg of Midland, North Carolina, Greg Duncan of Chicago; Laurie (John) Hazen of Pekin, Ken Biggers of Chicago and Susan Biggers of Rockford; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

June was a professional hairdresser most of her life working in various Pekin salons and later opening up her own business out of her home. June was strongly committed to raising her children while working within her home.

In their early/younger years, June enjoyed riding on Marion’s Harley Davidson. They were charter members of the Peoria Motorcycle Club. June loved dancing, boating and camping with her family.

June was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, where she was active in teaching Sunday school, working in the food pantry and singing in the choir. She loved her children, grandchildren and was active in attending their sports, music and extracurricular activities.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin. Pastor Gary England will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral at the church. Burial will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
