He was born January 4, 1989 in Pekin to Tom and Tammy (Richey) Martin, Jr.
Surviving are his mother and step-father, Tammy and Rick Hilst of Pekin; his father and step-mother, Tom and Danielle Martin of Pekin; three brothers, Ryan (Tiffany) Martin, Chase Martin and Trevor Mendenhall, all of Pekin; two sisters, Courtney (Reagan) Norris and Stephanie Yund; maternal grandmother, Elaine Richey of Pekin; paternal grandmother, Debra (Jess) Hasty of Pekin; paternal grandfather, Tom Martin, Sr. of Pekin; step-grandparents, Sharon and Larry Moreland, Randy Hilst, John and Linda Ricks, all of Pekin; his significant other, Angela Johnson of California and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joe Richey; one uncle, Troy Richey and his brother-in-law, Kythe Yund.
Troy was a seven year veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
A loving and joking son, grandson and brother, Troy enjoyed hunting, fishing and kayaking. He also enjoyed drawing and riding motorcycles.
Troy had worked at Xwaste Disposal in Pekin for seven plus years before moving to California. He had spent the last seven months working in inventory control at R & R Industries in San Clemente, California.
His memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Keith Moore will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Military rites will be provided by the United States Marine Corps and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
