Heaven is blessed with the presence of Toni Hany. She passed away peacefully ending a 19 year battle with dementia. Toni’s passion for life and her kindness was endless.
Born February 24, 1948 to Laverne and Deloris (Fickel) Swords in Peoria, she married Ronald Hany. She is preceded by her husband; parents; one daughter, Dawn Weber and one sister, Terry Faux.
Surviving is one daughter, Lynn Stone of East Peoria; one step-daughter, Rhonda (John) Meismer; five grandchildren, Zac Weber of Chicago, Josh Weber of Peoria, Lynsey Temple of Monmouth, and Haley and Dax Meismer; three great-grandchild, Ada, Bryn and Blair Temple; one brother, Steve Swords; one nephew, Sean Swords; one niece, Devri Colver; three great-nephews, Preston Swords, Kaleb Deske, and Nathan Deske, and one great-niece, Tegan Deske.
Toni loved nature and would prefer to dance in the rain over many indoor activities. Her passion for water was evident and she resided on lake front properties, had a trailer at Gambers-Cove with their many lakes. Toni’s love for children and nourishing young children led her to her business of 40 plus years of childcare.
She loved to fish, garden and travel with destinations on water, naturally. Toni would light up a room, no matter what her personal struggles were.
Toni being a single mother for part of her life, made her have sympathy for other single mothers and she would help them with childcare whether they had the ability to pay or not.
She touched many lives in her 76 years. Everyone that knew Toni will miss her deeply. God created a very special person when she was born.
A graveside service to honor Toni will be at Limestone Presbyterian Cemetery at a later date.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Midwest Affiliate, 530 Northeast Glen Oak Avenue, Peoria, Illinois 61637.
