Tomoko was born to Motoichi and Kiyu Yamabe on May 19, 1929 in Dalian City, China. She married the love of her life Charles Dorris on September 11, 1953. He survives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Motoichi and Kiyu Yamabe and siblings, Yoichi, Masako, Hiroshi, Atsushi, and Toshiharu.
She is survived by her one sister, Haruko Yamabe; one son, Edward Dorris (Judy); one daughter, Trina Petty (Ben); five grandchildren, Sarah Norberg (Jason), Weston Tolbert (Danielle), Josh Tolbert (Randi), Jamie Mizell (Buck), Zach Dorris (Jamie); 12 great-grandchildren, Olivia Norberg, William Norberg, Benjamin Norberg, Oskar Norberg, Motochi Tolbert, Sebastian Tolbert, R.J. Mizell, Brooks Mizell, Eli Dorris, Crosby Dorris, Hank Dorris, and Penny Dorris.
She worked for Russ Straumans Men’s Clothing for many years as their tailor.
In her free time she loved to walk the Pekin Lagoon with her husband and feed the ducks. When she went out to eat she loved folding origami and giving it to children at the restaurant. She spent many winters with her husband Charles in Texas. She will be missed and cherished by her family and all who knew her.
Tomoko was a member of Pekin First Church of God.
Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, Illinois.
