S. Juanita Burke

Born May 10, 1919 in Lincoln to Ross and Dorothy Christine (Danner) Montgomery, she married Peter Burke on June 25, 1938 in Keokuk, Iowa. He died October 3, 1986 in Pekin. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter (Lynn Munson), three brothers (Carl Montgomery, Marlow Montgomery, and Roscoe Montgomery), and three sisters (Marguerite Hammer, Irene Okray, and Dorothy Robinson).

Surviving are two daughters, Donna M. (Alan) Smith of Plano, Texas and Nancy D. (Mike) Munson of Pekin; three grandchildren, Douglas A. Smith of Clermont, Florida, Lori R. Yeamans of Plano, Texas, and Christine M. (Aaron) Stein of Pekin; nine great-grandchildren, Jason Smith, Erin Young, Brittany Yeamans, Rob Yeamans, Drew Yeamans, Tate Yeamans, Elizabeth Stein, Alex Stein, and Kate Stein; and one great-great-granddaughter, Madelyn Young.

A homemaker, Juanita enjoyed painting and needlework. In past years, she enjoyed golfing, bowling, singing, and dancing.

She was a member of Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin and Tazewell County Home Extension.

Her funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday,December 22, 2007at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before the funeral. The Rev. Todd K. Mushaney will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
