Ruby J Wheeler

Born June 3, 1916 in Johnson County to Joseph Thomas and Pearl Mae (Duncan) Russell, she married Glen Elwood Wheeler on October 4, 1933 in Robbs.  He died May 11, 1992 in East Peoria.  She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Paul Russell, Roland Russell and William Russell and two sisters, Lillian M. Phelps and Helen Weekley.

Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn S. (John) Gladwell of Creve Coeur and Donna K. (Gary) Scheerer of Groveland; two sons, Val D. (Ruth) Wheeler of Pekin and Dan L. (Carol) Wheeler of Castle Rock, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Ruby was a member of First Baptist Church in Creve Coeur.

A homemaker, Ruby enjoyed playing Canasta and her Wednesday card club.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  The Rev. Phillip Poe, her nephew, will officiate.  Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2010 at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Fon du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.
