Born November 29, 1944 in Peoria to Wayne and Eileen (Swanson) Prather, he married Bobbi Lynn Cullen on November 16, 1963 in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Staci Corirossi of Goodyear, Arizona; one son, Steven (Sha’) Prather of Lancaster, California; nine grandchildren, Dominic, Kati, and Tony Corirossi, all of Arizona, Codie Prather of Pekin,and Nicholas Prather, Karina, Remington,and Jade Rowe, and Owen Prather, all of Lancaster, California; two great-grandchildren, Carson Corirossi of Arizona and Kaleigh Maile of Pekin; his mother, Eileen Lober of Peoria; step-mother, Marilyn Prather of Peoria; one brother, Rusty (Debbie) Prather of Peoria; one sister, Sue (Joe) Sommer of Peoria; and a God-daughter, Kristine Wilson of Pekin.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mike worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 39 years, retiring as a supervisor in the core room at the Mapleton foundry in 2002.
He was a member of the American Foundrymen's Society and a former member of the Pekin Moose Lodge #916.
Mike was an avid fan of Bradley basketball, Illini football and basketball, and the Chicago Bears.
He loved fishing.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Terry Edele and Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded.
Memorial contributions for the education of his granddaughter, Kati Corirossi, may be made to a fund being established at the CEFCU Pekin office or to the Vernon "Butch" Gudat Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Foundation of Central Illinois, 331 Fulton Street, Suite 310, Peoria, IL 61602.
