GREEN VALLEY ~ Mary Louise Matthews, 69, of Green Valley, passed away at 8:27 a.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at UnityPoint Health-Pekin.
Born July 17, 1947 in Springfield to Glenn and Ellen Louise (Bonnett) Ballinger, she married Larry Lewis. She later married Ralph Matthews on April 5, 2002 in Troy Missouri. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded by her parents; one brother, Joey Chambers; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Marie Taylor.
Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Terri) Lewis of Green Valley and James (Jennifer) Lewis of Manito; one daughter, Lisa (Jerry Cox) Watt of Pekin; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary (William) Hornbeck of Orlando, Florida; and four brothers, Donald (Sharon) Reynolds of Decatur, Glenn (Sharon) Reynolds of Centralia, James (Karen) Chambers of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Phillip Ballinger of Pekin. She also leaves behind her dear aunt, Gloria Miller.
Mary had worked for Mardell Manor in Green Valley for many years.
She loved nature and enjoyed watching the birds. She cherished her family and was a very loving and giving person.
Her memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Judy Doyle will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
