Born October 5, 1931 in Pekin to Harry John and Mary Ilene (Elliott) Fahnders, she married John Norris Lewis on December 13, 1953 in Pekin. He died November 21, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Randy Lewis; and two sisters, Bessie Ramsey and Emily Lewis.
Surviving are three sons, Michael Lewis of Crystal Lake, Tim (Julie) Lewis of Pekin, and Rick Lewis of Tullahoma, Tennessee; one daughter, Wendy (David) Rinderknecht of Manchester, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one sister, Karen (Terry) McElwain of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Lois had worked as a waitress at Dog & Suds in Tremont and later at Grimm’s Truck Stop. She then did commercial cleaning in the Pekin area, including Bergner’s and Herget Bank, both in Pekin. She retired in 2002.
She was a member of the National Committee for Preserving Social Security and Medicare.
Lois enjoyed watching television and doing crossword puzzles.
Her memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Lloyd Brock of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded.
