Mrs. Spangler and family - I am so sorry for your loss. I remember hanging out with Pam and the rest of the family - we had so much fun. I worked with some of you at Caterpillar,also. Sometimes I drive past the old neighborhood - brings back sweet memories.  I live outside Tremont - my sister Deb lives in Pekin, my brother Art lives in Georgia and we are not sure where Mike lives. Hugs and prayers to all of you as I remember your father/husband. ❤❤

Melba and family I am so sorry for your loss. God must have needed another man of integrity with outdoor skills!  John was always good friend to our family and my Scout Master!  He will be missed by many.

I wish I had an opportunity to meet Mike's father, John. Mike often spoke of the strong influence and man of God John was. I have no doubt the shadow cast by John goes far and wide, and Mike displays  it in the way his shadow falls on those of us who know or work with him. The heartbreak of losing such a presence must be immense, and my thoughts and prayers are with the family as you learn to adjust without John's presence. I have no doubt that John lives on in the lives of his amazing family, and it is an honor to know Mike, Bev, Sam, and Grace. Blessings to you all in this time of mourning.

I have fond memories of hunting pheasants with John and my dad, Bill Pope, at the Kilgus farm in Fairbury.   On bicycle trips to Pekin I often stopped at John and Melba's home on Sheridan Road...it was always a nice time to share memories.

Ron and I send our deepest sympathy to your family. Having grown up in Calvary Baptist Church, I have so many memories of John and Melba. They were  a wonderful example of an authentic Christian family.  John lived a good life with many blessings!

I met John & Melba through my parents when I started coming to their Sunday school class. They have became like my other grandparents so when I found out that John had passed away I was heartbroken but at the same time I was rejoicing because he went home.  I am definitely gonna miss sitting next to him at Sunday School & him always asking are ya married yet( cause him & Melba was one of the first at church to know about my engagement) & when I would tell him no, he would always says well get on the ball. He also liked to talk to me about painting cause I like to paint on canvas & other things. You are gonna be missed, but I will see you again!!

"Papa John" always smiled with a sparkle in his eyes and had time for you no matter what.  I hope your hearts will stay filled with every good thing of him.   Please find peace and strength from Him❤️

 Melba and family, Jo and are sorry to hear of John’s passing. I know that he struggled the last couple of years. So many fond memories of him camping and 4 wheeling in our younger days. Him and Melba always welcomed me for many home cooked meals. It’s difficult to lose a spouse or parent, but remember that you always have him in your heart. We will miss the funeral due to us traveling to check on my mother. Prayers and thoughts are with you all. Remember, we are just down the road if you need anything day or night.

"Papa John" always had that sparkling smile in his eyes with genuine care; so many memories - I'm hopeful that your lifetime of his love will override your sorrows.  Please find peace and rest in His care.  My love to you all and prayers for strength in your days ahead.
