PEKIN ~ Thelma Jean “Jeannie” McClure, 78, of Pekin, passed away at 5:48 p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.
Born November 17, 1934 in Greenville, Tennessee to John and Thelma (Cole) Ray, she married Kenneth McClure on March 2, 1957 in Corinth, Mississippi. He died November 28, 2002.
Also preceding her in death were 1 sister and 1 brother.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Hope (Vince) Udry of Pekin and Vicky (Larry) Nelson of Nashville, Tennessee; 3 granddaughters, Vanessa (Josh) Mickle of Champaign, Amanda (Jake) Sloan of Nashville, and Victoria (Jacob) Lang of Anchorage, Alaskaand 2 great-grandchildren, Wade Mickle and Olivia Sloan; and 3 sisters, Joy (Gelden) Hampton and Shirley Caudle, both of Tennessee, and Linda (Glenn) Bevis of Alabama.
Jeannie was a waitress at Andy’s Diner and the Marigold Restaurant, both in Pekin, for a total of 30 years, retiring in 2000.She was a member of the PekinWomen of the Moose #673.
She enjoyed socializing with her friends and family, especially her daughters granddaughters,.
Jeannie was an avid dog lover.
Her funeral will be at 4 p.m., Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral. Private entombment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery Mausoleum in Pekin.
