Born May 27, 1939 in Pekin to James G. and Louise B. (McQuown) Seelye, he married Gwendolyn June Duden on June 25, 1961 in Creve Coeur. She died February 9, 2014 in Pekin. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Gayle Duden.
Surviving are two daughters, Lori (Michael) Davis of Pekin and Rhonda (Jeff) Ries of Germantown Hills; one grandson, Brandon (Dominique) Davis of Chicago; two granddaughters, Lauren Ries of Columbia, Missouri and Emily Ries of Indianapolis, Indiana and two great-grandchildren, Reese Josie Davis and Koa James Davis.
Jim had worked at Caterpillar, Inc. in Mossville as an engineer for 45 years, retiring in 2000.
A jack of all trades, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, photography and tinkering with computers.
Jim was longtime member of Bethel Memorial United Church of Christ in Creve Coeur.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Gary Salm will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
