Born October 22, 1981 in Peoria, he was the son of Levi Clarence and Rebecca Kay (Daly) Bishop.
Surviving are his mother, Rebecca Bishop of East Peoria; his father, Levi “Butch” Bishop of Mapleton; two daughters, Erin Bishop and Alivia Bowler, both of Pekin; five brothers, Levi C. Bishop, Jr. of Newton, Jeremy Lee Bishop, Zebulon Pike Bishop, all of Pekin, John W. “John Boy” Bishop of Pinckneyville and Jason R. Bishop of Pekin; two sisters, Jennifer (Jeff Plack) Avery and Erin Mandrell, both of Pekin and nineteen nieces and nephews, Jasmin, Jamie, Jordan Michael, Kentrelia, Koralin, Benny, Katie, Claudia, Andrew, Zeb, Kelly, Chase, Johnny, Isabella, Jackson, Ella, D.J., Lily, Elliott and Cali May.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Benjamin Thomas Bishop; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Bishop and Mary Ellen Bishop; his grandparents, Thomas Martin and Mina Mae (Fortner) Daly and Levi “Dutch” and Mae (Martzluff) Bishop and his brother-in-law, Deryl Wright.
Jim Bob worked as a construction laborer.
He had a giving heart and was known as the calm and loving protector of his family. He enjoyed keeping in touch with friends through Facebook and playing the slots.
He was of the Catholic faith.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Pekin.
