Florence E Meyer

Born May 16, 1923 in Pekin to Elmer and Erna (Heilman) Beck, she married William "Bob" Meyer on April 23, 1943 in Pekin.  He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Alona (Darold) Hardin and Gail (Steve) Wilson , both of Manito; five grandchildren, Judy McKinney of Chicago, Robert (Marcella) Hardin and Gina (Tom) Oest, both of Manito, Becky Hardin of Pekin and Robert (Shelly) McKinney of Green Valley; three great-grandchildren, Kelsey McKinney of Green Valley, and Jake Oest and Jared Oest, both of Manito; two brothers, Kenneth (Mary) Beck and John (Bonnie) Beck, both of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Florence was a ward clerk at Pekin Hospital's surgical floor for sixteen years, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Quilting Guild.

She also enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Pekin.  The Rev. Dr. Rodger P. Abatie will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to7 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.  Burial will be in Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
