Born November 7, 1936 in Peoria to Donald R. and Virginia (Lancaster) Carson, he married Marie Yerly on July 30, 1960 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Jody L. (Brad) Oltman of Pekin; one granddaughter, Mallory M. Oltman of Pekin and one brother, Jerry L. (Susan) Carson of Pekin. He also leaves his faithful friend, Cuddles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He had served in the United States Army Reserves.
Don was a 1954 graduate of Pekin Community High School and worked as an electrician with Illinois Brotherhood of Electrical Workers out of Local 34 for 36 years, last working in supervision. He became a retired member in 1996.
An avid bowler, Don was a member of the Greater Pekin Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He also loved golf and was a frustrated fan of the Chicago Cubs. He also was a Chicago Bears fan.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Pekin.
He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, dad and grandpa.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. The Rev. Michael K. Roberts will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
