Clifford L. Wright Sr., 74, of Manito, Illinois, died Monday, November 26, 2012 in Pekin Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 23, 1938 in Cole County, Illinois. He was the son of Donald and Edna (Julian) Wright. He married Phyllis Lee on July 30, 1966 in Pekin, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving are eight children, Clifford (Debra) Wright Jr. of Galva, Illinois, Rosemary Roache of Quincy, Illinois, Juanita Webber of Bloomington, Illinois, Louis (Alice) Nelson of Manito, Illinois, Ty Lee (Kaye) Nelson of Kewanee, Illinois, John (Lori) Nelson of Bradford, Illinois, and Donna Carter of Toulon, Illinois. He has 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren surviving. Clifford has one sister, Mary Nance of Taylorville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Ann Wright and one great grandson, four brothers and one sister.
Clifford was a machinist for 31 years at Caterpillar Inc. retiring in 1994. He was an Army Veteran and also served for three years in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Salvation Army in Pekin and was a holiday bell ringer from 1994 to 2010 and was the top producing bell ringer many of those years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 243 Derby St. Pekin, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service. The Davison Fulton Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to his Family.
