Christy Lynn Bushong

Born October 1, 1949 in Pekin to Don and Joyce (Everretts) Christensen, she married Michael Bushong on July 15, 2000.

Surviving are her husband of 23 years; two daughters, Tara Sondag of Green Valley and Sara (Allen) McDonnell of Morton; one son, Nathan (Kara) Bushong of Pekin; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and her step-mother, Jackie Christensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Todd Schaefer: one granddaughter, Tori Schaefer; one brother, Scott Christensen and one step-brother, Kevin Thomas.

A loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, Christy enjoyed working in her flower garden, playing backgammon and horseback riding. She also thoroughly enjoyed spending time on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Christy was a member St. Mary’s Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception in Delavan and was involved with Compassionate Friends for several years.

Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2023 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Monsignor Timothy Nolan will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
