He was born November 5, 1941 in Cairo to Clifford Andrew and Laura Etta (Hiatt) Calvin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Alvin “Lee” Calvin, Jr.; one granddaughter, Kylee Calvin and one brother, Clifford Calvin.
Surviving are two sons, Marty (Erika Mitchell) Calvin of East Peoria and Robert (Susan) Calvin of Pekin; one daughter, Jeanne Calvin of Pekin; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Autumn, Daughlton, Cade, Alexis, Kenlee, Kjirsten and Kohlton; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gary (Wilma) Calvin and Larry (Charlotte) Calvin, both of Pekin and one sister-in-law, Bobbi (Stan) Baumann.
Alvin was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916.
He retired October 1, 1999 as the Operations Superintendent from Illinois American Water Company, after a 41-year career.
An avid racing fan, Alvin also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and listening to Patty Loveless.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
