William Bentley Hill, Jr., aged 67, of Brandon, MS, passed away on October 10, 2024 at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. Born on March 27, 1957, Bill, as he was affectionately known, graduated from McClure High School in 1975 and later attended Hinds Community College. He began his career at Winn Dixie, where he quickly rose to Managerial roles that ultimately led the family to Ponchatoula, LA. Years later, Bill moved his family back to Brandon, MS, built their "forever" home on family land, and embarked on a second career in sales, which he continued until his retirement.
Bill was a devoted husband to his wife of 47 years, Jean Dudley Hill, a loving father to his daughter, Christy Hill Puckett (Marty), and sons, Thomas Bentley Hill (Josie) and William David Hill. He was also the best grandfather you could ever ask for to Garrett Hill, Drake Hill, and Brogan, Swaid, and LP Puckett. He is survived by his sister, Memry Siegal. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Peggy Hill, his brother, George Robin Hill, and sister, Debra Williamson.
A true outdoorsman, Bill spent countless hours at his deer camp with friends, which he considered his second family. His love for fishing was only rivaled by his true passion of hunting. Known for his humor, generosity, and a penchant for pranks, Bill's vibrant personality made him a beloved figure in his community. Other than his outdoor activities, his hobbies included watching Westerns on tv, quick-drawing his hair comb, spoiling his family, vacationing, and making everyone around him laugh, whether through his classic dad jokes or his unexpected Cher ringtone, he was going to make you laugh.
Services will be held at Baldwin Lee Funeral Home in Pearl, MS on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. Visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by the service at 1pm and a graveside service at Brandon Memory Gardens off Hwy 468 in Brandon, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Camp Tanglewood (PO Box 1255, Brandon, MS 39043) or online at CampTanglewood.com, in memory of Bill Hill.
