We were in band together at Woodlawn H.S. in Shreveport La. He was a great person and a talented musician. We had great times together.

To Bills family. I went to school with him. Super nice young guy. Will keep you in my prayers. 

I was so sad to hear of Bill's passing, although I had not seen him since I graduated from Woodlawn.  He was a good friend in the band and I will always remember his smile and his positive attitude.  I know his family will cherish his memory.  My heartfelt sympathies are with his family and friends.

Dear family of my former classmate, Bill Barksdale, 
I went to WOODLAWN High school with Bill and will never forget him or his smile. I was in Pep Squad and he was in band...the pep squad always sat in front of the band and since I was in the tallest company I was right in front of the band. I remember his enthusiasm everytime the band played...our school was one of a kind.....I mean one of our FAVORITE songs to cheer the team on was The Stripper hey it was the '60's what can I say.
I'm so happy to know Bill lived a wonderful life with such a fantastic family. May you each be comforted in your sadness right now but have the peace that he is no longer suffering.

Bill was a  genuine gentleman and a great co-worker.  I met Bill in the 90s when we worked together at an IT support company. In the mid-90s, we were starting an IT Program at Hinds Community College, Rankin Campus, he came to work with us and our students loved him and enjoyed his teaching style. Our condolences go to Dianne, his family members and friends. He will always be a bright spot in my memory of Favorite Friends. I know he is in a better place. Bless you, my Dear Friend.

I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Bill's passing. Upon meeting Bill in 2013, it didn't take me long to realize what a kind, humble, funny, passionate (the list goes on and on) man he was. I truly appreciated being able to call him a coworker and a friend. He was a true gentleman that made the world around him a better and more fun place to be. Rest in peace, Bill, we'll miss you. 

Bill and I enjoyed a lot of golf through the years. We went to the Masters several times going back almost 25 years. Bill could be shooting even par, make the turn and start rebuilding his whole swing. Hope he’s playing on the best course ever, God’s speed my dear friend.

I met Bill in the early 2000's at the BCC. Soon after we hired Bill to work at our plant which was being built and in need of leadership as we moved into the production phase.  I enjoyed working with Bill and I truly believe Bill liked working for Chemstar.  I always enjoyed talking golf with Bill, he was full of tips as he is a golfer and I just play golf.  We often played together in The BCC Wednesday night scrambles when I was in town.

I am very happy I was able to talk to Bill and wish he and Diane a Happy Thanksgiving this year.

Chemstar will be making a donation in Bill's memory to the Folds of Honor Foundation.  

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with Bill for the past 17 years. He was so much more than a fellow coworker.  His generosity and kind heart touched everyone he encountered.  Bill was extremely intelligent and very determined.  But, no matter what was going on, he always treated everyone with dignity and respect.  Bill was one of the most likable guys you could meet.  He will be sorely missed by everyone here at Chemstar.  We have lost a true member of our family.
One funny story to share:  Bill bought a really nice bass boat in the 2000's and when I came down from Minnesota, he took me out on a local lake to show me how fishing was really done.  Everything went off without a problem.  Backed the trailer in like a champ, dropped the boat in, and off we went.  Only to realize the boat was quickly filling with water.  Quick to action, I scampered to turn the bilge pump while Bill frantically dove head first into the back compartment of the boat to execute the very important "plug in the boat" maneuver.   We fished that evening and laughed about how boat ownership was almost a very temporary phase of his life.    I'll miss you Bill!

Bill is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews, and 7 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Rankin Barksdale and Lynelle Young Barksdale; as well as a son, William Thaddeus Barksdale.
