A lifelong Mississippi resident, she was born in 1947 to Wayne and Beatrice Hensley. She was married to her husband, William Otha “Billy” Hood, Jr. , for 47 years until his passing in 2016. Her sincere caring for others allowed her to be a well-respected and much loved nurse until her retirement. She passionately loved God, her family and friends and provided wisdom and compassion to those in need. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home, 3780 Highway 80 East, Pearl, MS 39208 with funeral service to follow in the chapel. Interment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 4111 US 80, Pearl, MS.
Wanda is survived by her four children: Jennifer Williams of Brandon, MS; Ben Hood (Tori) of Madison, MS; Joy Williford (Scott) of Liberty Township, OH; Emily Ellis (Jon) of Dayton, OH; Grandchildren: Josh and Jacob Williford; Annabelle, Noah, and Lillian Ellis; Aunt: Joan Rooker; Sisters: Judy Adams, Betty Lang (Craig), Cynthia Evans (Robert), Sherry Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her late husband William Otha Hood, Jr., sister Linda Westbrook, and parents Wayne and Beatrice Hensley.
Memorial donations may be made in Wanda’s memory to Bethel Baptist Church Missions Ministry, 546 Bethel Rd., Brandon, MS 39042, to benefit the Mike Ring family who serves the Lord as missionaries in Brazil.
