Mr. Marsalis was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Gay Stutts Marsalis, in February 2021, and he will be laid to rest beside her at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. They enjoyed many hobbies together including bowling, attending auctions, going for walks, and traveling.
He worked as a machinist at Milwaukee Electric tools in Jackson, MS and retired from there in 2005. Earlier in his life he had worked for Jackson Packing Company and Detroit Hoist.
He loved riding his bike, gardening, playing solitaire on his computer, and tinkering with anything and everything. He was a 1960 graduate of Pearl High School and loved going to Pirate football games on Friday nights. He was a big supporter of the Pearl Community and of Rankin County where he lived his entire life. He was also a proud member of Paul Truitt Memorial Church, now named Truitt Baptist Church, in Pearl for more than 50 years.
Above all else, Mr. Marsalis loved the Lord our God.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amy and John Scott of Orlando, FL; granddaughters, Jordan Lee of Sherman, TX, and Julia Brown of Flowood, MS; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Lee, Emerson Lee, Silas Brown, and Lorelei Brown; and his sister, Arrie Windham of Pearl, MS.
