He was a longtime member of McLaurin Heights Baptist where he taught men’s Sunday School for many years. Ronnie served faithfully in the United States Army Reserve. He was active in playing, officiating, coaching, and watching sports, and loved to scuba dive. He also was a gifted traditional artist and illustrator and was an avid reader.
Ronnie had a lengthy career in metal fabrication as owner of Kustom Sheet Metal and Metal Crafters and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local #214.
He leaves behind his wife of sixty years, Linda Rigby Silence; daughter, Karen (Kevin) Cadiere of Pearl; son, Kevin (Cathi) Silence of Pearl; grandchildren, Kelsey and Kaleb Cadiere, and Bailey Silence, all from Pearl; brother, Luke (Dede) Silence of Raymond; and sisters, Sandra Silence McLaurin of Ridgeland and Mary Silence (Phillip) Herron of Brandon. He also had a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Preceding him in death are his twin brother Donald Silence, and his parents, Mary Ophelia Broome Silence, and Luke William Silence, who rejoice alongside him in Heaven.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 20, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl and will continue Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McLaurin Heights Baptist Church in Pearl. His funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM., with graveside service thereafter at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Kaleb Cadiere, Bailey Silence, Brooks Herron, Thad Freeman, David Rigby, Brian McDonald, Lee Bray, and Steve McWhorter. Honorary pallbearers will be James Barlow, James Irtle, Don Bailey Jr., James Bush, Edd Rogers, Roy Patrick, Pete Ruffin, Kirby Deer, Danny Neal, Dwight Knight, Sam Brumfield, and Bobby Cadiere. Officiating clergy will be former longtime pastor, Dr. Steve Jackson, along with current Senior Pastor of the Church, Cody Robertson.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to McLaurin Heights Baptist church or your charity of choice.
