Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 and 10:00am until 11:00am on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at McLaurin Heights Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am at the church. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
Danny was born in Jackson, Mississippi to Paul Pope and Mary Williamson Pope. He was born on April 17, 1958, and graduated from Pearl High School in 1976.
Danny served in the US Army as a Military Police Officer from March 20, 1979 until March 19, 1982. After his military service he began his career in law enforcement with the Flowood Police Department, where he served over 13 years. After his police career he worked with Bank of America as a field auditor until his passing.
Danny loved life, never met a stranger and especially loved his family. He loved to love people and always had a hug or an encouraging word. He was the king of shenanigans and lived life to the fullest. He loved all of his buddies at Sunrise Hunting Club and the time spent with each one. He also loved singing with his quartet and choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Louanne Walters Pope; son, 1SG Keither D. Dennis (Sharon); daughter, Haylee Ambrose (Dustin); grandchildren, Keither Bradley “KB” Dennis, Addie Dennis, Piper Ambrose and James Pope “JP” Ambrose (arrival expected in May); sister, Paula Neal; brother, Kenneth “Kenny” Pope (Leigh); niece, Danielle Neal; nephews, Andrew and Caleb Pope. He also leaves behind many that he thought of as his “other” children.
