Kaye was born June 18, 1947, in Taylorsville, MS, a daughter of the late Alonso Lavelle and Louise Ingram Meadows.
In 1966 she married the love of her life, Jerry M. Burt, and they were blessed with two daughters.
Kaye’s professional career often favored positions which enabled her to serve and help others. She worked for many years with the MS State Dept. of Education and later as Executive Director of the MS Court Advocacy and Justice Institute. Kaye was also a pioneer in the residential homebuilding industry as one of the first female homebuilders in our state.
She faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Jackson where she was a long time member of the choir. In her free time Kaye loved to travel, and her adventures saw her visiting many areas. Some of her favorites included cruises and trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Switzerland, and the northeastern US.
In addition to her parents Kaye was preceded in death by her brother, Sammy Meadows.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jerry Burt; daughters, Miranda Armstrong, and Emily Wilmoth; grandchildren, Blakeney Armstrong, and Zachary Wilmoth; sister, Judy Brown and husband Bert; nephew, Clint Smallwood; and nieces, Lauren Pape, and Crystal Ladnier.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00am, Friday, November 11, 2022, in the funeral home chapel with entombment to follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Rev. Tom Washburn will officiate and serving as pallbearers will be Zach Wilmoth, Clint Smallwood, Jason Statham, Joey Pape, Chris Ladnier, and Cliff Burns.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the MS Court Advocacy and Justice Institute 239 Katherine Dr. Suite A, Flowood, MS 39232.
