Visitation will be 12:00-2:00pm, Thursday, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services will follow at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with interment in Line Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Morton.
Joe was born Friday, February 15, 1946, in Scott County, a son of the late Edward Hoover and Ruby Donald Hoover.
A long-time painting contractor in the greater Jackson area, Joe owned and operated Hoover Painting Company. His hobbies included watching the Braves games and listening to old country music, but like a true outdoorsman, he also loved to hunt, fish, and work in his yard. Joe’s love for his family was evident to all that knew him and his children and grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of their beloved “Jappy”.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Holley.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty McGowan Hoover; sons, Joel Hoover, Jr., (Bridget) and Dewayne Hoover; daughters, Betty Jo Quick, Tammy Gant (Marty), and Angela Maples (Larry); brothers, Hubert, Lamar, and Wayne Hoover; sister, Joyce Hoover; grandchildren, Jenna Hoover, Chaney Arney, Seth Arney, Jace Arney, Kinley Jo Hoover, Justin Hoover, Cole Hoover, Brad Reynolds, Mandy Cease (Drew), Ashley Lester (Vance), Marty Gant, Jr. (Sam), Anna Busby (Clay), and Larry Maples, III; and great-grandchildren, Maddie, Ava, Bentley, Lyla, Lily, and Mackenzie.
