He was born on April 15, 1935 while at home in Lawrence County, Mississippi to James William Milton Netherland and Lessie Cliburn Netherland. James was a member of the National Guard for nine years where he was a cook, and in 1958, he married his beloved wife, Alice "Jean" Amason Netherland. James was owner of Netherland Accounting in Pearl, which opened in 1962, and he was one of first Alderman of Pearl as well. A loyal member of Eastside Baptist Church, James went on several mission trips where he built houses and rural churches, and he performed across the country in the gospel vocal group, the Pearl Quartet, alongside Jean, his precious wife. In addition to being a Master Mason, James spent his free time hunting, with his favorite hunting partners being his son and grandsons. He was also a wonderful storyteller who above all, loved the Lord.
Preceding him in death is his father, James "Mitty" William Milton Netherland; his mother, Lessie Cliburn Netherland; his siblings, Edward, Christine, Lerlene, Nell, Mildred, Blanche, Eula, John Earl, and Jean; and his sweet infant Netherland son.
James is survived by his endearing wife of 65 years, Alice "Jean" Amason Netherland; son, Jeffery "Jeff" Netherland and his wife Wendy; grandchildren, Shelby Leigh Netherland, Zachary "Zach" Cole Netherland, and Jesse Logan Netherland; and a number of beloved extended family members and friends.
He will be so deeply missed by many.
