She was born August 11, 1924, to Gaddis and Polly Williams Myers in Pelahatchie, MS. For over 66 years, she was an active member of First Baptist Church, Pearl, MS, serving in any way needed and witnessing to others. She retired from Saint Dominic Hospital after 32 years as a payroll clerk.
Doris often said, “I love people.” She was gentle and loving to everyone she met. She enjoyed gospel, country, and bluegrass music. What kept her young at heart was that she was a social butterfly. She will be dearly remembered for her loving kindness.
Doris was the backbone of her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert M. Everitt. She is survived by daughter Marcell Pete Mapp (Mac) and son Robert “Bert” Everitt (Gene); granddaughter Mollie Everitt; grandsons, Matt Everitt, and Jody White (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Amelia, Alex, Richard, and Danielle; sisters Edith Lovitt and Carolyn LaFaye Pace, and brother Joe Gaddis Myers (Marlene) of CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris enjoyed life to its fullest and set an example for our lives. Her love, joy for life, and laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be 11 AM to 1 PM on Monday, March 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church, Pearl, MS, followed by the service to celebrate her life and resurrection at 1PM. The family graveside service will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, Pelahatchie, MS.
