A Celebration of Life for Dolores will be held from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl.
She was born on April 18, 1938 at home in Jackson to Richard Benton Tillman, Sr. and Maggie Bell Varner Tillman. Dolores was a graduate of Forest Hill High School in Jackson. First and foremost, she loved her family. Devoted to raising her kids and caring for her family, she always had three meals a day ready without fail. Dolores was a talented cook that could make just about anything, but most notably, she made delicious chicken and dressing.
When not busy with housework, she worked meticulously in her impressive garden which showcased a variety of flowers. Dolores truly had a green thumb, and anything she touched blossomed. Keeping an immaculate yard such as hers meant she was no stranger to labor; Dolores would even assist her husband at his job building houses, organizing and moving materials for him on the jobsite. Being a hard worker is an honorable life skill, and she would ensure her children were brought up right by instilling this in them, as they often were recruited to help out on these projects as well !
She always had a smile on her face. In her free time, Dolores liked to go fishing and listening to gospel music. She was of the Christian faith, being baptized at Clear Branch Baptist Church at an older age. In her later years, she fancied doing as many crossword puzzles as possible to help keep her mind sharp. When her children moved out on their own, she kept herself active and worked at Zayre Department Store in Jackson, and at Hughes Aircraft. Even in adulthood, Dolores still showed her adoration of her children all the same. She worked at Hughes Aircraft with her daughter and enjoyed their Walmart grocery shopping trips. Her other daughter always looked forward to her phone call each morning to check in and make sure she was awake. As well as the reputation Dolores acquired for doting on her son, she never left any doubt that she absolutely loved her family, and that they were her life.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Richard Benton Tillman, Sr. and Maggie Bell Varner Tillman; daughter, Cindy Jordan Calitine; grandchild, Tisch Marie Peacock; and siblings, Richard Tillman, Jr, Connie Norton, and Betty Lou Warren.
Dolores is survived by her son, William "Earl" Jordan, Jr; daughter, Francis Parker; grandchildren, William "Little Earl" Jordan, III, Jordan Marie Parker, William Kyle Parker, and Stephanie Allison Parker; 11 great-grandchildren; and her beloved canine companion, Sugar.
She will be so dearly missed.
