He was born on October 4, 1937 in Columbia, Mississippi to the late John Lewis Sumrall and Urania Tircuit Sumrall. At the age of 18, BJ joined the Navy and proudly served our country. BJ enjoyed a long career as a service manager with various businesses, including Fowler-Buick. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Pearl. In his free time, he found solace and peace in the woods. BJ had a deep appreciation for God's great creation that is the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time. Most importantly, he loved his family, always telling them "If you ain't got family, you ain't got nothing." BJ was truly one of a kind, and he cared deeply about his loved ones, always offering them words of wisdom to uplift them. He was also quoted as often saying "Life is what you make it; you get out of life what you put into it".
In addition to his parents, BJ was preceded in death by his wife, Arlette Sumrall; children, Eric Sumrall, Joey Sumrall, and Patti Sumrall Skipper; and brothers, Charles H. Sumrall and Robert Earl Sumrall.
He is survived by his daughters, Helen Sumrall Johns and Karen Finnegan Sumrall; siblings, Dot Sumrall, Carol Bourne, Cookie Cannon, and Mark Sumrall; grandchildren, Ryan Skipper, Mandy King, Eric Skipper, Patrick Finnegan, Samantha Sumrall, Lauren Grissett, Mallory Skipper, Adam Johns, Christopher Sumrall, and Erica Johns; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He will be so dearly missed.
