his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 11. Mr. Sambdman was
predeceased by his father, Wilhelm Mathias Sambdman, his mother Mary Francis, née Roberts,
his sister Paula Tankersley and his beloved grandmother, Bobbie Roberts, née Everette.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Patricia, née Boss, and his sons Kevin Matthew, John Kirk, and
Thomas Harold.
Mr. Sambdman graduated from Sylvan High School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1952 and enlisted in
the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter. He was deployed to Thule, Greenland where he was
introduced to the job he loved, Air Traffic Control. After his service, he was hired by the U.S.
Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller, first at Atlanta’s Harstfield-Jackson
International Airport and then at the FAA Air Route Traffic Control Center in Hampton, Georgia.
During this time he earned a BA degree from Mercer University.
As Mr. Sambdman retired, he established a transportation company, Samson Tours Inc., now
operated by his sons.
Mr. Sambdman was a member of Heatherwood Baptist Church, Newnan, Georgia, where he
served as a deacon.
A visitation for Mr. Sambdman will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 Senoia Rd, Peachtree City, Georgia 30269. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel with Pastor Joel Smelley officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at 2:00 PM at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive SW, Atlanta, GA 30310
