Growing up an only child, Vera was quiet and independent. She was an avid bridge player, quick to organize a group, and always had her cosmetic bag ready for travel. She always had a good book to read, and even continued using audio books after losing her eyesight.
After graduating a year early from South Side High School in Memphis, Tennessee, she worked for New York Life Insurance Company ten years. She was a certified professional secretary. Vera and Robert (Bob) married on April 10, 1953, moved to Anniston, Alabama where she stayed home and began her family. After a move back to Memphis, they eventually made their way to East Point, Georgia in the early 60’s, where she was employed with FAA, and later with FORSCOM at Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem, where she retired.
Vera was a member of Southwest Christian Church in Newnan, Georgia, formerly located in East Point. She enjoyed helping where needed and outings with her senior adult friends.
