Mary Paige Adams was born in Greensboro, Ga. on July 24, 1922 (delivered at home by her father, a physician). She graduated from Wesleyan College in May 1943. She was hired at Delta Air Lines in July 1943 as one of their first stewardesses. On a flight in 1945, she met a handsome pilot named Dana Jones. The DC-3 on which they met is currently on display in the Delta Flight Museum in College Park, Ga. The couple married on May 25, 1946 in Greensboro, and enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage in College Park before Dana's passing.
The beautiful and gracious Paige became known as an avid gardener and homemaker, animal lover and radiant hostess through countless social engagements with family and friends. In later years, she relished writing handwritten notes to keep in touch with friends old and new. She gave back to the community, delivering for Meals On Wheels and serving food at Crossroads Community Ministries of St. Luke’s. Her strength and resilience were remarkable, choosing to remain in her home from her husband's passing to her own.
The consummate Southern lady, Paige’s luminous smile and way of relating to family and so many dear friends in a warm, personal way will be fondly remembered forever.
Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, is in charge of arrangements.
