David Lee Mays

October 14, 2018. David was born January 25, 1954 to Bruce and Betty (Holland)

Mays. He was a member of Lonsdale Methodist Church and attended Harps

Crossing Baptist Church, Fayetteville, GA. David was a 1972 Central High School

graduate and attended the University of Tennessee. He began a career in

construction on the First Tennessee Bank building and worked his way up to

become a superintendent for Skanska USA from which he retired in 2016. He took

great joy in the projects he completed to include the St. Louis Union Station, The

Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, Gamecock Training Pavilion at the University of

South Carolina, the Virginia Tech Student Center at Blacksburg, VA and numerous

administrative structures at other universities across the southeast. He will be

remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor and selfless heart.

David was preceded in death by son Chris Mays in July of 2017 who was waiting

on him at heaven’s door. David is survived by wife Jodi Mays of Fayetteville, GA; sons,

Bryan Mays (Danielle) of Knoxville, Jeffrey (Beth) and Michael (Kayla) of

Fayetteville GA; Parents, Bruce and Betty Mays; brothers Steve (Sharon), Gary

(Susan) of Franklin, TN and sisters Paula Dunlap, Sandy (Tim) Woodford of St.

Charles, MO Sister in law Sheila (Dennis) Watson. Nieces Marilyn, Megan, Rose,

Stephanie, Nancy and Hannah (Mike) Gage along with many cousins, aunts and

uncles. Left to mourn his passing are grandchildren, Brandon, Jake and Caitlyn.

A visitation will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church.

Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m., also at Harp's Crossing Baptist Church. (1183 Highway 92 S Fayetteville,GA 30215).
