Mark was proudly from Payette, Idaho, and over the last 25 years a resident of McCall and Boise. He was the youngest of five children born to Adell and B. F. McCarroll.
Mark graduated in 1953 from the University of Idaho where, as a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, he formed many life-long friendships.
While a bank management trainee in Spokane, he was most fortunate to meet and eventually wed Leona Breakey, beginning a marriage of 57 years. Mark and Leona have since taken great pleasure and pride in their children, Julie and Ben, and their families.
Insurance became Mark’s career focus upon joining the agency founded by his father. He much appreciated those individuals and businesses across the region with whom he became acquainted and was privileged to serve. He successfully grew the agency and, with eventual partners, set the foundation for what is now Three Rivers Insurance.
Mark and Leona have been ongoing contributors to their communities. Mark served as Chairperson of the Payette School Board and an active member of numerous professional, civic and church groups. He took particular pleasure in Leona’s roles as an accomplished vocalist in choirs, clubs and community theaters.
Outdoor sports -- particularly fishing, hunting and hiking -- were sources of great satisfaction. He exulted in the company of a faithful dog. Stories, anecdotes and memories, including those at his occasional expense, evoked appreciative laughter.
Mark rose to the health challenges of later years with poise. Fortunately, there were many times for him to enjoy, and be appreciated by, extended family that includes daughter-in-law Sheila McCarroll and grandchildren Connor, Megan and Kathleen; and son-in-law Greg Surabian and grandchildren Roby and Sarah.
The entire family thankfully acknowledges the many kindnesses of friends and neighbors as well as the skill and sensitivity of physicians, nurses and caregivers who assisted Mark.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 14th at the First United Methodist Church, 502 N. 11th St., Payette. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. A memorial gathering is planned within the coming months.
