He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Velma Vaigl and his brother Charles Franklin Vaigl Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Dee, children Debra Blaha (Jimmy) and son James R. Vaigl Jr. (Kris Laszlo) also by two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio. He was member of Masonic Lodge 340 of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and a 32° degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Valley Of Columbus.
After serving eight years in the Air Force maintaining C-130's he settled in Columbus, Ohio working as an engineer at Doctors Hospital and Sears Distribution Center total energy plant. He entered management at the One Hundred East Broad Corp. as asst. Chief Engineer of the Rhodes State Office Tower and then as Chief Engineer of the Borden Building. He then worked for The Hines Company as the original Chief Engineer of the Huntington Center.
In 1990 Jim & Dee left Columbus as he took a position with Prentiss Properties as the Director of Engineering for the north east region to develop and manage Fairview Park, a 200 acre office park in Falls Church, Va.
He and Dee spent from 2002 to 2017 living and loving the Florida lifestyle on the Southwest side of Florida starting on Pine Island, moving to Cape Coral and finally to the Landings in Fort Myers. In 2017 He and Dee came home to Columbus to be near family and friends.
He had a wonderful, blessed life. He obtained a commercial pilot's license with instrument rating. A Coast Guard 100 ton offshore captain's license. He and Dee were avid skiers, sailors, power boaters, fishermen, tennis players and finally golfers. Remembering many, many wonderful memories with Deb and Jim Jr. through the years.
Per his desires, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be had at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Road, Columbus Ohio 43221 at a later date. Private interment in their niche to follow at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Kauber-Fraley Funeral Home, 289 South Main St. Pataskala, Oh.
