Wallace Wayne “Wally” Odom Sr, age 77, was called home to be with the Lord and his son on April 23, 2024. He was born in Wink, Texas on October 10, 1946 to Matterson Eugene and Jana Mae (Campbell) Odom. He was married to Janet (Henry) Odom for 55 years.
He was a chemist at Ashland Chemical in Aransas Pass, Texas for several years before moving to Pasadena, Texas to begin his career as a Chemical Plant Operator and Member of the Fire & Rescue teams at Shell Chemical in Deer Park, Texas where he worked for 31 years until retirement.
He also served proudly as a volunteer firefighter with both the Ingleside and Pasadena Fire Departments for over 30 years.
He loved coaching and mentoring his boys through all of their sports activities. His passion was studying the Bible and sharing the word of God. He enjoyed working with his wife on a ceramics business, both creating their products and meeting and greeting people at shows. Above all, he loved his family. From being PaPa to filling in for Santa to being a devoted husband and father.
He is preceded in death by parents Matterson and Jana Odom, sister Deanna (Odom) Pate, brother Danny Odom and son Wallace Odom Jr.
He is survived by his wife Janet; brother Douglas; sister-in-law Cindy and her husband Charlie; brother-in-law Jim and his wife Pat of Wylie, Texas; brother-in-law Steve of Rockport, Texas; his sons Scott and his wife Anna, and Jeffrey; along with grandchildren Jessica, Nathan, Justin, Shawna, Cade, Ryan and Sabrina; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and his volunteer fire department family and friends who will all miss him dearly.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Charlie Bowles, Joe Thompson, Jeff Odom, Nathan Odom, Cade Odom, Ryan Odom, and honorary pallbearer Sabrina Odom.
Visitation for Wallace will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM with a Celebration of Wallace's life beginning at 1:00PM in the Chapel of Pasadena Funeral Chapel, 2203 Pasadena Boulevard, Pasadena, Texas 77502. Wallace will be laid to rest Monday, April 29 at 2:00PM at Sterling-White Cemetery located at 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road, Highlands, Texas 77562.
