She was blessed with a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and many cousins who she loved dearly.

Nancy was born July 9, 1946 in Radford, Virginia. Later, her family relocated to McComb, Mississippi where she spent a few more years of her early childhood with aunts, uncles, and cousins she spoke of dearly. Her father, Joe Wilson, found work with Phillips Petrolium in 1954 where he ultimately moved his family to Red Bluff Terrace in Pasadena, Texas. Nancy and brother Donald (Donnie)had the longest driveway on Burke Road. All the neighborhood friends rode bikes together, and the turn around in their driveway became a gathering spot for making childhood memories.

Nancy was a member of Thomas Avenue Baptist Church as a young woman. She raised her family at Golden Acres Baptist Church, and in later life, she settled in at South Main Baptist Church.

In 1966, she began raising her family in Golden Acres, and she co-owned a trophy shop and boat storage facility. At 35, Nancy went back to school and obtained her GED and began her career at Pasadena ISD in Food Service where she worked her way up from a dishwasher to Cafeteria Manager/Trainer. She eventually retired from Deer Park ISD, but continued working for South Main Baptist Church in the kitchen supporting church events.

Those who knew her would be able to tell you many of stories from her lifetime as a past President of the Pasadena Little League Women’s Auxiliary, Girl Scout Leader , Cub Scout Den Leader, Softball and Basketball Coach , FFA Mom, and an active member of the community. She was always a cheerleader from her days rooting on the Houston Oilers and Houston Astros. Though she was little, her battle cries were fierce. She loved a day of fishing, camping, or crafts. Through the years, her hobbies varied but be it a fishing pole or paintbrush in her hand, all was done with passion.

In later days, she was a cheerleader for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always on the sidelines supporting their activities.

As a 10-year breast cancer survivor, the smallest warrior many will ever know, she met each day with a smile. She will be best remembered as a flip-flop wearing God fearing woman.

A graveside service & interment for Nancy will be held Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 9:30 AM at Grand View Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.
