Mary Lou was born in Houston, Texas to Tom and Helen O'Neill. She grew up in Houston where she went to School and graduated High School and went on to attend Sam Houston State University and later worked for Doctor Wellman where she managed insurance till her retirement.
Mary Lou was married and had 3 loving sons, Darrell, Steven and Randy Slaton.
She always loved hosting special occasions and holidays; we always knew she would serve deviled eggs for appetizer.
Mary Lou adored spending time with her family and spoiling her grandkids Taylor and Parker (love bug) and great grandson Grayson and they loved her and will miss their Grammi Lu.
Mary Lou adored her 3 dogs Dolly, Lu Lu, and Sweetie that she treated like her kids. She also had several stray neighborhood cats that would come to visit every morning.
We fondly remember her love for shopping and trying new restaurants. Mary Lou loved spending time with her girlfriends’ playing games and celebrating each of their birthdays.
She is preceded in death by her parents Tom O’Neill and Helen Sachs. Her son Thomas Jack Slaton "TJ" Slaton and her husband Marvin Johnson.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law. Darrell and Phyllis Slaton of Canyon Lake, Steven and Cyndi Slaton of Friendswood, Randy and Christie Slaton of Pearland, granddaughter Taylor and husband Bobby Medina, grandson Parker Slaton and great grandson Grayson Medina.
The family will always cherish their loving memories of our Mom and Grammi Lu.

A visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2:00 PM, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Grand View Memorial Park, 8501 Spencer Highway, Pasadena, TX 77505.
